Bring Welfare Services to Those in Need

The Challenge

In rural areas or developing nations, basic social services such as family planning, emergency medical attention and nutrition information are difficult to deliver to regions that lack proper telecommunications infrastructure or even road systems.

The Solution

While upgrading highway and telecommunications infrastructure may be a long-term goal of city government, wireless MANs deliver a significant step forward in access to welfare services in the short term. By installing wireless point-to-point that can span up to 40 miles in each hop, welfare services from a location miles away can be networked to local clinics, schools or even places of employment. Using existing resources, people in their communities are able to access a variety of critical services. Local medical staff can deliver emergency medical advice from distant specialists. Government agencies can deliver communication about birth control, epidemic outbreak prevention, and assistance programs. Rather than remaining isolated from the programs designed to help them, citizens receive personal assistance close to home.
